Johannesburg Water says about 200 homes in Protea Glen in Soweto have been built on top of their water supply pipeline.

Residents held a protest last week complaining about not having water for a week.
Johannesburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala says, “The entity’s finding confirmed that the development in the area has been carried out over the bulk waterline with homes built directly on top of it.”
“Residents are urged to avoid encroaching on or building near critical infrastructure to prevent further disruptions and safety concerns.”
