Volkswagen has released some teasers of its ID.4 electric vehicle ahead of the official reveal which is said to be in a few weeks. Why is this important? The ID.4 is likely to be the first electric Volkswagen sold in SA.
The colourful teaser image shows off the front end of the Volkswagen ID.4 and we’re keen to see the newcomer in the metal.
The Volkswagen ID.4 will run on the VW Group’s MEB platform and offered with a choice of either all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. Outputs are yet to be confirmed but rumours suggest the rear-wheel model uses a single electric motor with 150 kW and 310 Nm, while its all-wheel drive sibling has 2 motors and packs a 225 kW / 450 Nm punch. In terms of range, it’s said 500 km is possible on the WLTP cycle.
We’ve already seen some leaks of this vehicle in China, where a white ID.4 was shown off giving us a decent look at the newcomer.
