A 35-year-old man has been arrested after being found in possession of dagga worth R15 million in Northam outside Thabazimbi in Limpopo.
Police say the arrest was made following a tip-off about a truck transporting illicit goods.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says 44 bags of compressed dagga were seized.
Mashaba says the suspect will appear before the Northam Magistrates Court on Monday facing charges of possession of illicit substances.
“The truck matching the description provided, was stopped for a routine check. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered a staggering 44 bales of compressed dagga, hidden between bedding, pillows, and mattresses. The total value of the confiscated drugs is valued to a staggering R15 million. The driver a South African citizen, was arrested on the spot, and the truck with the dagga was confiscated.”
