Anabela Rungo, the mother of model Chidimma Adetshina, is expected to hear the outcome of her bail application on Wednesday. Rungo has appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court where she faces seven charges, including the Contravention of the Immigration Act and Contravening the Identification Act.

Her daughter, Adetshina, had entered the Miss South Africa pageant but later withdrew. She also won Miss Universe Nigeria last year. The Department of Home Affairs and the police detained Rungo at a Cape Town property last week.

They withdrew her South African documentation in September last year after finding that it had been fraudulently obtained, rendering Rungo ineligible to reside in the country.

“Her case has been postponed to the 26 of February 2025 for arguments in her bail application. In the meantime, both parties that is the defence and the state will submit their heads of arguments to the court before the final arguments resume. She remains in custody,” NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila says.
