As Disability Month comes to an end, the Mpumalanga Blind Skills Development Hub calls for more support for the liberation of visually impaired people.
The non-profit organisation held an art exhibition for visually impaired people at the Nelspruit Art Gallery where they showcased their handmade work.
The event also introduced the therapeutic effects of arts for individuals with visual impairments. The hub founder, Fanie Msiza wants more to be done to support visually impaired persons.
“If we can find the support system that can actually speak to the ideas that we have because we have so many ideas that can actually liberate a visually impaired person. The only thing that is actually standing between and the success and the impartation is the support structure. Be it financially and a place where we can do these things, it’s a problem as well.”
