There have been calls for Defence Minister Angie Motshekga has to resign after the deaths of 14 South African soldiers in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The minister has been grilled by Parliament on the report she gave about the deaths of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members in the DRC.

She appeared before the joint meeting of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans and Joint Standing Committee on Defence.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Carl Niehaus lashed out at the Minister and the SANDF Generals calling for them all to resign immediately.

“No, I am just pointing to the minister. Okay? Let me put my hand down. When are you minister and when are you the Chief of the South African Defence Force going to resign? You should resign today. When are the rest of generals who were playing golf at Copoli when our soldiers were dying, when are they going to resign?”
