The case against Longwe Twala has been postponed to 4 December in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg to afford the investigating officer time to verify the accused’s details.

Longwe, who is the son of legendary songwriter Chicco Twala, appeared briefly in court this morning.

He was re-arrested on Tuesday after failing to appear in court on 25 November according to his bail conditions.

The accused’s multi-award-winning producer dad opened a case against his two sons for breaking into his home and stealing his studio equipment worth more than R200 000.

“The process of him applying for bail, it within his rights. However, the court will make a ruling in terms of the hearing on him being in contempt of court. Now, the outcome of the hearing may have a bearing on one of the bail hearings in court. So, now it’s in the hands of the court. He has a right to apply for bail and the state must respond to his application and the state most probably will oppose his bail application because he has shown that he cannot be trusted,” says National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane.
