The Joshlin Smith kidnapping and human trafficking trial has been postponed until Thursday after the state’s main witness, Lorentia Lombaard, broke down on the stand.

Lombaard started taking strain as she was being cross-examined by one of the accused, Jacquen Appollis’s lawyer, Fanie Harmse.

Lombaard turned state witness after being arrested with the accused, Jacquen Appollis, Steveno van Rhyn and Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, last year.

Last week, Lombaard dropped a bombshell, alleging that Kelly had sold Joshlin to a sangoma.

Lombaard says at first she confronted Smith about selling #JoshlinSmith and she allegedly replied by saying she needed the money.

Appollis’s lawyer, Fanie Harmse is attempting to discredit Lombaard as an unreliable witness. He also contends that her earlier testimony that Kelly had been abusive towards Appolis is not true.

Harmse: Describe then to the court if you can, the movement of Kelly with a knife.

Lombaard: Kelly came out with a knife, and she said to Boeta, you, I’ll stab you to death.
