KwaZulu-Natal Police have confirmed that one of the suspects linked to Tuesday morning’s cash-in-transit heist on the N2, near the NPC cement Factory in Durban, has been shot and killed in a shootout with police on Moore Road in Durban.

A second suspect was injured in the shootout and has been arrested.

Police believe that the suspects accosted a cash-in-transit vehicle, assaulted two security guards and robbed them of their firearms before stealing an undisclosed amount of money.

One woman was killed in the incident.

Police have already confirmed that they suspect at least 17 people in connection with the crime.
