Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane, has emphasised the government’s responsibility to ensure further educational opportunities for the province’s high-achieving matriculants.
Speaking at the launch of the first Eastern Cape Aviation School in Port Alfred today, Mabuyane highlighted the importance of this new institution in providing accessible opportunities, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The school aims to equip learners with skills in aviation, contributing to their development and future career prospects.
“Ordinary young people, kids from destitute families would have never had the opportunity to study at a school like this, but the work that we are doing in improving the results in the Eastern Cape, getting about 45,000 bachelors ,but also more improvement in mathematics and science, that tells you that the kids here are ready to take up any challenge. We are bringing them here, integrating, we are are making these schools not to continue being an ivory tower to be part of this development of this area,” says says Mabuyane.
