Educational psychologists are calling on parents and learners to talk about options should they not get the desired matric results.

The class of 2024 matric results are expected to be released on Monday, 13 January 2024.

Over 900 000 matric learners sat for their National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.

Educational psychologist, Nicola Buhr says emotions will run high in the next few days and it’s important that friends and family are there for learners.

“Close to the results being released is often a very trying time for many pupils and parents. People feel a lot of stress, anxiety, and fear at this time, as well as anticipation and concern as to what to do if the requirements are not met. At the end of the day, a lot of these emotions are normal. It is quoting a huge event in somebody’s life. It is also a new phase in a person’s journey; some are going to university, going away from home, and there is a lot of change in a person’s life.”
