The family of a JMPD officer who was fatally shot in her car outside her home in Alexandra north of Johannesburg on Friday say they are devastated.

Judith Makwela was rushed to the Edenvale Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Makwela’s son and a bystander were also shot at the scene and are currently in hospital.

Makwela’s daughter says they are distraught as her father was also shot and killed five years ago.

“I was in the yard, so this happened outside, so after the incident happened – I just saw my mom down. The culprits were just running there down. It’s tough because, I relied on my mother big time, she was the only parent I had, my dad passed away five years ago and he was also shot, so I wasn’t expecting such.”
