Marking of the 2024 National Senior Certificate Examination will begin on the 1st of December.
She says overall the administration of the exams has been successful, despite a number of weather and violence-related challenges.
Gwarube gave the exam update during a media briefing at Parliament today.
“Despite some challenges, the overall administration of these exams was successful with minimal irregularities. The administration of these exams has highlighted both the triumphs and areas of improvements in our system. On the positive side, stringent monitoring ensured a fair system at all times. High risk examination centres were closely supervised and monitored during each session,” says Gwarube.
Western Cape Education Minister David Maynier has urged matriculants to celebrate responsibly as they finish writing exams in the province today.
Maynier says many of them are expected to attend functions including matric rage and parties.
He’s called on the matriculants to familiarise themselves with safety measures at events and local emergency numbers.
“It is understandable that our matrics would like to celebrate the end of their school career but we urge them to do so responsibly and safely. We encourage parents to ensure that their children understand the risks involved in any event or party and to ensure that they have made arrangements to stay in contact with their children and know what to do in an emergency,” says Maynier.
