The police’s forensic experts have made headway at the Solo Restaurant in Sandton, Johannesburg. This comes after a shooting incident occurred at the restaurant Thursday evening. Three people were shot dead, while four others, including two regular customers, were wounded.

According to the police, two AK-47 rifles and two hand guns were seized at the scene.

Police are investigating a deadly shooting at the restaurant in Sandton. The incident occurred on Thursday evening when a man with a firearm attempted to force his way into the establishment, which has a strict no-firearm policy.

A confrontation between his bodyguards and security personnel escalated into a shootout. 

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that two of the bodyguards died at the scene, while the gunman later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Preliminary investigations from the police have revealed that one of the man was involved in a shooting incident in Tempo restaurant, in the same area of Sandton last year. And he was still attending a court case of attempted murder. The scene has been declared a crime scene, and one of the customers in the restaurant says she now fears for her safety.

No arrests have been made, but police have seized two AK-47 rifles and two handguns. The restaurant has been closed until further notice, and the area has been declared a crime scene. 

A customer who witnessed the chaos, Manavraj Singh, said his car was hit by multiple bullets.

“My car was shot. The back window was shot twice, and the right mirror was hit once. They found bullets inside the car,” says one of the customers. 

Another customer expressed fear following the incident.

“I walk here every morning. So, this is shocking. It’s scary, and I feel skeptical about security now.” 

In a statement, Solo Restaurant condemned the violence and extended condolences to the affected victims.
