The Eastern Human Settlements MEC, Babalo Madikizela, on Sunday continued with his “fruits of freedom” campaign of ensuring that the most destitute are moved out of dilapidated dangerous structures into proper houses.

A total of 13 furnished homes were handed over to thankful beneficiaries in the Amathole District. The houses were given to 11 beneficiaries in Amahlathi, 2 in Amathola-ville – a predominantly coloured area in Stutterheim, 8 in Kubusie in Stutterheim, 1 in Kei road and 2 in Komga.

Contrary to the ordinary RDP houses that are handed over with just 4 walls and left to the beneficiaries to furnish, the destitute beneficiaries received their houses with sofas, bed with linen, kitchen cabinets and utensils.
