The Mpumalanga Provincial Government has pleaded with the families of the 14 people who lost their lives, in a horrific crash, in Hoedspruit, two weeks ago, to give the provincial government time to conclude the DNA tests.

This is after the families expressed concern about the delay in the finalisation of the tests to allow them to lay the deceased to rest.

The 14 people died when a minibus and bakkie collided and caught fire, at Hoedspruit in Limpopo.

Mpumalanga’s MEC for Community Safety, Jackie Macie, says they are collaborating with the Limpopo government to expedite the process.

”The results in terms of the DNA, they are not conducted by us. They are conducted in Pretoria. We are still waiting for them. We sympathise with the affected communities, that indeed, we want to speed up the process so that they will bury their loved ones with the dignity that they deserve. However, we must indicate that we are pushing very hard with our counterparts. Indeed, once the process is completed they will be the first ones to receive the information from us so that they are able to proceed with the burials,” says Macie.
