Limpopo Police Commissioner Thembi Hadebe says a decision on whether to charge the man arrested in connection with the rape of two nurses will be made after an identity parade has been conducted.
The accused, a parolee, has now been charged with alleged possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.
He was arrested over the weekend following the abduction and rape of the nurses at Ga-Chuene clinic near Lebowakgomo over a week ago.
Hadebe says they have confiscated items that link the accused to the crime scene.
She says, “We have evidence, concrete evidence from recoveries that we have made from the suspect’s house linked to different crime scenes. In every crime scene that he went to he was taking cell phones, was taking gadgets and some of the gadgets were found in his own position, and some cell phones including the cell phone taken from a nurse in the clinic. Over and above that we even went to those people that some of the cell phone was sold to. So there is intensive investigation that is going on, so we are confident. For now, we are just pushing our forensic to support us with the availability of the DNA.” – Reporting by Rendani Raliphaswa
