The state in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case has emphasized that singer Kelly Khumalo will not be called as a witness, as she remains a person of interest.

Meyiwa was shot and killed while at Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Five men are on trial at the High Court in Pretoria for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.

Lead investigating officer Bongani Gininda has been answering questions from defence counsel Zithulele Nxumalo.

“Will Ms Kelly Khumalo come and testify before this court?” asked Nxumalo.

“It’s discretion of state on which witness to call and not for the investigating officer. At the end of the state case, we will make all the witnesses the state hasn’t called available to the defense,” interjects state prosecutor George Baloyi.

“State will decide at end of its case. And witnesses who have not testified they will make available to the defence,” the judge reiterates.

“I want to know now because the state indicated Brigadier Gininda is their last witness,” Nxumalo adds.

“It is on record, we did say we are not going to call Ms Kelly Khumalo,” Baloyi affirms.

“There you gave it Sir,” the judge says .
