Prominent lawyer, Advocate Zola Majavu, has questioned why the Zanzou nightclub matter was not reported at the time it occurred.
Majavu is the legal representative of one of the nightclub’s directors, Neo Moela. He addressed the media in Johannesburg today.
A video has since emerged and gone viral, showing men being physically and sexually assaulted at the popular Pretoria nightclub.
“How is it that an incident that is three years old only came to the director’s knowledge like it did to everyone else? There was no knowledge that the victims have reported that incident far back as when it happened. If they did, that knowledge does not repose in his mind. You don’t need to be a lawyer to know that if you are violated in which it was depicted, the first and most natural thing to do is to report to the police,” says Majavu.

Meanwhile, Moela’s father, George, has also spoken condemned the incident at the club, saying that it goes against their family values.
“As a family, the father said this, which is being circulated, goes against values that we have engendered in our children. And as a father I want to face the country together with my son and say what has happened is atrocious, not in our name. In fact, he said to me, I will be livid if that was done to my own children. Regardless of the circumstances, that conduct is unacceptable, and I as a parent must be seen to be supporting the efforts that condemned that.”
