The 48-year-old former police officer, who was accused of stabbing his stepdaughter to death near her school at Ga Thoka outside Polokwane in Limpopo, will make his second appearance in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Andrew Mehlape allegedly stabbed 14-year-old Rebotile Moloto multiple times two weeks ago.

The accused faces three charges of murder, arson and intimidation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder of the grade nine learner while walking to school was carefully orchestrated by the accused.

Rebotile Moloto’s death has sent shockwaves through the community.

Investigations have revealed that Rebotile had tried to intervene in a domestic-related dispute between her mother and stepfather.

She allegedly hid her stepfather’s firearm.

The teenager was laid to rest at Ga-Selepe village in Moletjie on Saturday.
