Betway Premiership tailenders, Magesi FC’s search for a new head coach is under way.

This follows the resignation of Clinton Larsen. Larsen, who had two seasons at the club, announced his resignation during a live broadcast on Saturday, immediately after a 3-0 defeat by Carling All Stars.

Three days after Larsen announced his resignation live on television, Magesi FC management is playing their cards close to their chest. They remain mum on Larsen’s successor.

Larson masterminded the historic upset, guiding Magesi to their first top-flight trophy, the Carling Knockout Cup, within four months in the elite league. They defeated the much-fancied Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, Larsen has struggled to improve the fortunes of the club in league games. He had a winless streak, leaving the club sitting at the bottom of the league log with only one victory in nine matches.

Magesi FC is expected to make announcement in the next few days. Management say Larsen was not pushed out. They too, were also shocked when he resigned live on TV.

Larsen was not available for comment. Magesi FC will lock-horns with premiership contenders, Orlando Pirates, at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Sunday.

“We are still internalising this particular matter, management is sitting, we will then be able to make proper announcement in the days or also I may not be able to divulge these internal matters at this particular point in time but all I can say is that all things are actually well, all matter are given the necessary attention. We know will get out of that particular relegation zone very soon. Coach Clinton Larsen resigning on Saturday after the game against all stars and it was a shock to all of us in the team, we are still digestion this matter. We can still confirm that he resigned because his resignation was there on national TV, so that is actually confirmed by the team,” says the club’s spokesperson Abel Rakoma.
