It never pours but rains for the Democratic Alliance. In what will surely go down as the most tumultuous week for the main opposition party, with far-reaching ramifications, it has seen three very high ranking leaders resigning within hours of one another.
The tsunami wave was started by Herman Mashaba on Monday and then followed by a joint announcement by Mmusi Maimane and Athol Trollip.
Maimane had only resigned as party leader and offered to stay as leader of the opposition in Parliament and to retain his DA membership. On Thursday morning he announced his total severing of all ties to the DA.
