Avukile Nkayi, a matriculant from Nyanga SSS in Ngcobo, Eastern Cape, has made his street hawker mother proud by beating all the odds of poverty to become part of the group that Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga referred to as the “creme de la creme” of the country.
Nkayi is a national top achiever, Position 2 amongst all the Quintile 3 schools in the country. He posted an unbelievable 99% pass in both Physical Science and Geography.
“We are extremely pleased that our school has regained its position as one of the best schools in the country with an overall pass rate of 90.3%”, said a jubilant Khulile Qamata, Headmaster of Nyanga SSS.
When HotNews asked him about Nkayi, he was waxing lyrical about his star performer, “He joined us in 2016 and immediately displayed his prowess in the classroom. We are not at all surprised that he is now amongst the national top achievers.”
