Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is expected to visit the Stilfontein area in the North West on Friday.
This is Mchunu’s second visit to the province this month and he will be accompanied by his Deputy Polly Boshielo.
This comes as more illegal miners continue to emerge from underground at a number of shafts.
The ministry will also engage various stakeholders, comprising the South African Human Rights Commission, the South African Federation of Trade Unions as well as the affected families.
Minister Mchunu will receive a progress report on measures which will lead to the resurfacing of the illegal miners in the area.
Mchunu had earlier this month established a task team, which is led by North West Community Safety MEC Wessels Morweng who was given the responsibility to retrieve illegal miners still underground at Shaft 11. This process is yet to start. Meanwhile, 17 illegal miners resurfaced on Thursday from Margaret Shaft.
