The Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has accused some music industry unions and representatives of misappropriating government funds earmarked for assisting artists.

He was speaking at the funeral service of Kwaito artist Victor “Doc Shebeleza” Bogopane in Fairlands, Johannesburg.

Bogopane died on Thursday last week at his home in Fairlands.

The “Ebumnandini and Gets Getsa” hit-maker underwent surgery in December last year.

He was due to undergo a second surgery days before his death.

McKenzie has also called on radio and television stations to support local artists.
