With the victory over Wales, the Springboks finished an end-of-year tour to the northern hemisphere unbeaten for the first time in eleven years.
2024 will go down as one of the most successful years in Springbok history. The world champions have won 11 of the 13 test matches they played for an unprecedented success rate of nearly 85%.
In doing so, coach Rassie Erasmus gave more than fifty players the opportunity to prove their worth as he builds towards the 2027 World Cup.
Erasmus says the performances weren’t always flawless, but it was mission accomplished.
“I think for us having a new attack and defence coach of the world cup those are the only two things you can do… We are satisfied with the score board but also satisfied with the year in total and I think it was a dominant performance. I thought the effort that the guys put out there it’s an old cliché, but we are always happy when that happens, I think we must sometimes just give the players a lot of credit.”

Boks captain Siya Kolisi says it’s always special to be part of such a brilliant group of players.
“I am so lucky with the kind of leaders we have in the group and I think the way our head coach has set up the group and making sure that everybody amongst the group is a leader everybody is in charge of something which takes the pressure away from me. I only have to deal with my part of the game and other people talk I keep quiet. I’m obviously really proud of what we have achieved as a team and without the other leaders in the group honestly, we wouldn’t be here. It’s always special when you are part of this group.”
The Springboks’ victory over Wales and their end-of-year tour clean sweep mean they will finish the year as the world’s top-ranked side.
