The cross-examination of alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack continues in the Cape Town High Court on Monday, where he has been described as a dangerous and manipulative individual.

Modack and 14 co-accused are standing trial on more than 100 charges, including the murder of anti-gang unit detective Colonel Charl Kinnear.

In his affidavit, Modack stated that Kinnear offered to drop the extortion charges against him.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans says, “Mr Modack, I am comparing your affidavit here to your evidence in chief and your affidavit to Baker, and the focus is on getting your firearms back. But in this affidavit, Kinnear is supposed to assist you with your extortion case. Why the different focus?”

Last week, the evidence his counsel had planned to present pertained to voice notes alleged to be between Modack and other people, as well as photocopies of WhatsApp messages.

The documentation is also believed to include police-compiled reports.
