More severe thunderstorms expected to hit parts of KZN: SAWS

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a level 2 yellow warning for severe thunderstorms in the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, specifically uThukela district, Amajuba, parts of Umzinyathi, Umgungundlovu and Harry Gwala.

Forecaster Wiseman Dlamini says the warning is only in place for Friday.

Looking ahead to Saturday and Sunday, he says there’s a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers from Saturday afternoon.

“Looking at the weather forecast for today. We are still expecting a 30% chance of showers and thundershowers over the central parts of the province as well as coastal areas. However, over the western parts of KZN, we do expect a 50% chance of showers and thundershowers. Also, there is a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over municipalities like Uthukela District, Amajuba, some parts of Umzinyathi, Umgungundlovu and Harry Gwala,” says Dlamini.
