The N3 Toll Concession says traffic volumes towards Durban are expected to continue to increase from around midday today.
All toll plaza lanes will be open during peak traffic periods.
Authorities have warned road users that congestion and delays are likely when traffic volumes are high.
Chief Operating Officer of the N3TC, Thania Dhoogra says, “The bulk of traffic is expected to be travelling in a southbound direction towards Durban but it is also likely that traffic in the northbound carriageway will increase towards Johannesburg.”
“However, an analysis of N3TC’s crash data shows that 75% of light motor vehicle crashes and 81% of truck crashes recorded on the N3 between January and October this year can be attributed to human factors such as driver negligence, reckless behaviour and poor decision making,” Dhoogra adds.
