A ninth victim of the Pienaar mass shooting that happened outside a tavern a week ago in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, has died in hospital.
Six victims died on the scene, while six were rushed to hospital where two succumbed to their injuries.
One victim has been discharged and one is still in hospital.
Meanwhile, the state has added this additional murder case making it nine cases against the two men accused of the mass shooting.

Accused abandons bail
Two men – Mduduzi Lubisi and Bongani Nkosi – have appeared briefly at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court near White River. They are facing nine counts of murder, one attempted murder and robbery.
Legal representative Nkosingphile Maluka addressed the court about the decision to abandon the bail.
“Worship, I confirm my appearance for accused number one. Your worship on the last occasion, we applied for a postponement for us to be able to apply for bail. Your worship, however, today when we arrived for the court we were informed your worship, there has been an added charge in the charge sheet. In this instance, I hold an instruction from the client at this stage to abandon bail. Should there be any new factors or instructions, we will avail ourselves before this court your worship.”
