Defence counsel Charles Nxumalo says there is no evidence that proves that there was communication between accused number four and singer Kelly Khumalo.

Lead investigator, Brigadier Bongani Gininda testified at the High Court in Pretoria where five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.

There was no evidence of communication between accused number 4 Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Kelly Khumalo.

Brigadier Gininda said this during cross-examination by Maphisa’s lawyer Advocate Zithulele Nxumalo.

Nxumalo: Is it also correct that you couldn’t find any communication between my client, Mr Maphisa and Ms Kelly Khumalo in any records or investigations?

Gininda: Yes, that’s correct, we did not find those.

The court previously heard that accused number 3, Mthobisi Mncube and Maphisa went to Vosloorus together on the day of the incident.

Nxumalo denied there was any telephonic communication between Maphisa and the rest of the accused in 2014.

Nxumalo: There was no communication found amongst the accused in 2014?

Gininda: I don’t know My Lord, one will have to see the reports. I am not an analyst. One will have to see what the records say relating to accused 3 as far as 2014 is concerned.

Nxumalo: Let me rephrase, there was no communication between my client and the arrest of the accused in 2014, that’s what I want to clarify.

Gininda:  I’m not an expert in terms of the experts they are the ones who can speak to this factually.

Gininda is expected back on the stand on Friday.
