Defence counsel in the Senzon Meyiwa murder case, Zithulele Nxumalo, says there is no eye witness that places accused number four, Mthokoziseni Maphisa at the crime scene.

Maphisa and four other suspects are on trial at the high court in Pretoria for the 2014 murder of Bafana Bafana captain.

Meyiwa was shot and killed while at Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Nxumalo has been cross examining lead investigating officer Bongani Gininda on the alleged involvement of Maphisa in the murder.

Nxumalo: Do you also confirm brigadier that my client Mr Maphisa was not identified by either the witnesses inside the house, or by the neighbours at all material times when this incident was taking place. Do you confirm that?

Gininda: Ya, my lord I can confirm that but none of the accused, not only Mr Maphisa, none of them from one to five was identified by the neighbours or by people who were inside the house during the cause of my investigation. None. It is evidence that was collected my lord that links accused number four to this matter.
