Rape-accused pastor Timothy Omotoso has wrapped his testimony following cross-examination by the state in the Gqeberha High Court, Eastern Cape.

Omotoso was the first witness to be called by the defence team.

He and his co-accused Zukiswa Sitho and Lusanda Solani face a string of charges including racketeering, trafficking in persons for sexual purposes, rape, and sexual assault.

During cross-examination, he denied grooming girls for sexual purposes in his mission house.

Omotoso was cross-examined by Senior State Advocate Mduduzi Msila, who focused on the testimonies of four complainants who alleged that Omotoso sexually violated them; and others on numerous occasions.

Omotoso denied ever sexually violating the girls, stating that the mission house was to groom young girls, who aspired to grow vocally and also sing in the church choir.

On the other hand, Omotoso admitted that girls would at times in a group or individually enter his room for counselling, but none of them were ever sexually violated.

He also admitted that at times he would ask the girls for massage for his feet, but this never escalated to sexual favours.

Wednesday is marked for cross-examination. The defence is expected to call his co-accused Lusanda Solani.
