Du Toit was also one of seven Springboks included in the World Rugby Men’s 15s Dream Team for 2024 at the awards ceremony in Monaco last night.
The trio of Du Toit, Etzebeth and Kolbe were joined in the side by prop Ox Nche, hooker Malcolm Marx and the centre pairing of Damian de Allende and Jesse Kriek.
SA Rugby President, Mark Alexander, lauded all the players for being honoured after such a remarkable year for the world champions in which they registered an 84.6% record after claiming the Rugby Championship, the Nelson Mandela Challenge Plate, Freedom Cup, and the Prince William Cup for beating Wales on Saturday.
Apart from Du Toit, only two other South Africans have walked away with top honours, including Schalk Burger in 2004 and Bryan Habana in 2007.
