Over the weekend, police confirmed the deaths of three police officers killed in two separate incidents.
The continued attacks on police officers are a cause for concern, says Mkhwanazi, who adds that the problem is that there is a group of people in KZN who are bloodthirsty and this is a war.
“They do not care if they kill for them to get their way, whether they rob you and whether they rape, whatever they do. But they just do not bother. They will kill if they can. What disturbs us the most is that the majority of these crimes, what we are experiencing as the police, is that are organized from beyond bars. There are those that are in prison with free access to people in prison. There are quite a lot of crimes we are dealing with that are organized by people that are in prison already.”
