Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi says an officer received information about a consignment of abalone that was delivered to an address in the area.
Swartbooi says seven suspects were arrested and adds, “They detained seven suspects between the ages of 36 and 60 on a charge of unlawful possession of abalone. One of the suspects who was also found in possession of a blank pistol will also make a court appearance on a charge of possession of an imitation firearm. Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charges.”
