The Kingsmead playing surface for the first test between South Africa and Sri Lanka has favoured the bowlers so far, with the first two innings lasting less then three sessions in total.

In reply to South Africa’s first innings total of 191 all out, the visitors were skittled for a paltry 42 inside 14 overs, their lowest ever score in a test innings.

It’s also the lowest ever test score against South Africa and the lowest score at Kingsmead.

Only two Sri Lankans managed to reach double figures with a highest score of 13.

Five batters were dismissed without scoring. All-rounder Marco Jansen was the destroyer-in-chief.

He finished with career-best figures of seven for 13 from six overs and five deliveries.
