World number one and defending champion, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has made it through to the fourth round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Sabalenka beat 22-year-old Dane, Clara Tauson, 7-6, 6-4 on the day session of day six at the Rod Laver Arena.

Former two-time champion and unseeded Japanese player, Naomi Osaka lost the first set to 2020 Olympic Games gold medallist, Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 6-7.

Osaka received on-court treatment for an abdominal injury late in the first set.

In the men’s singles, second seed Alexander Zverev of Germany and third seed Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, are also through to the fourth round.

Zverev recorded a straight-sets victory over Britain’s Jacob Fearnley, while Alcaraz needed four sets to see off Nuno Borges of Portugal.
