Cabinet says the extended deadline of the 20th March for the replacement of the existing South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) gold cards is final. The gold cards will be replaced by the black cards belonging to the Postbank.
Minister in the Presidency, Khumbhudzo Ntshavheni has urged SASSA beneficiaries to make sure their cards are changed before the deadline.
Recently both SASSA and Post Bank came under fire from MPs after they expressed dissatisfaction about long queues, coupled with the slow service that beneficiaries experienced.
Ntshavheni reiterates the decision not to grant a further extension.
“Cabinet reminds beneficiaries that the old SASSA gold card will stop working on the 2oth of March 2025 and beneficiaries who have not exchanged their cards by then will need to visit their nearest post office branch to access their funds.”
