Security a priority for MK’s 1st year anniversary celebration

Police in KwaZulu-Natal say security has been highly prioritised for the UMkhonto WeSizwe (MK) Party’s first year anniversary celebrations set to take place tomorrow at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Police in KwaZulu-Natal say security has been highly prioritised for the UMkhonto WeSizwe (MK) Party’s first year anniversary celebrations set to take place tomorrow at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Thousands of supporters are expected to fill up 56 000-seater stadium.

The party has indicated that it will be bussing in its supporters from all districts in KwaZulu-Natal.

Party supporters from other provinces are also expected to attend.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker says they will not tolerate any form of lawlessness.

“There will be check points when entering the stadium. Regarding the intelligence we have mend with various agencies including intelligence and disaster, fire departments everyone has been involved. From the intelligence point of view, there has not been any threat identified but we are remaining proactive. Looking at the numbers, we expect lot of people coming in the stadium.

Meanwhile, the Durban Metro Police says it has deployed seven hundred officers at all roads and intersections near the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu says all intersections around the stadium will be mend by police.

“Only two roads that will be Masabala Yengwa and Sandile Thusi. The drop off zone will be Umngeni Road. We have also made arrangement with the local public busses to park in their own ranks to make way for these buses. We are more than ready. On the freeway, we have increased our deployments in case there is any accident that might happen.”
