Sundowns are now on eight points after five matches, lying second in Group B.
Namibian Peter Shalulile came off the bench to score the equaliser eight minutes from time, and his presence also led to an own goal by the home side late in injury time.
Sundowns will host AS FAR of Morocco in their final group match in Pretoria next Sunday.
Maniema took the lead through forward Jephte Kitambala in the 38th minute.
