Mamelodi Sundowns has reasserted their dominance in the Betway Premiership. The top ranked Sundowns recorded a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Orlando Pirates at the Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday, extending their lead at the top of table.
Both teams made somewhat of a conservative start to this highly anticipated clash between the two top teams in the league. But it was log leaders and hosts, Mamelodi Sundowns, who seemed to be playing with momentum.
And they were rewarded for their intensity, capitalizing on a set piece as Grant Kekana provided some classy finishing from a free kick. Chasing the game, the visitors enjoyed more possession after the goal but sadly, it just only worse for Pirates fans.
That victory was 4️⃣ you Masandawana! Thank you for your INCREDIBLE support!👆

Lucas Ribeiro produced a flash on individual brilliance, finding the back of the net after racing past three defenders.
The Buccaneers had a shot at goal during injury time in the first half but squandered their chance, going into the break trailing 2-nil.
Pirates upped the ante early in the second stanza, and they too were rewarded for their persistence, as Deon Hotto scored to reduce the deficit.
Sundowns who lost just one game in 14 matches this season, added salt to their opponents’ wounds as Ribeiro netted his second goal of the match, just 10 minutes later.
Teboho Mokoena added the final nail in the proverbial coffin finding some space to shoot from range.
And that’s how it ended at Loftus Versveld with Downs sealing an emphatic 4-1 victory, extending their lead over Pirates to nine points.
