A man arrested in connection with the rape of two nurses at Ga-Chuene clinic near Lebowakgomo in Limpopo, has made a brief appearance in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court.
The accused had his case postponed to April this year for further investigations.
Outside the court, nurses, community members and non-governmental organisations, were holding placards and protesting.
One of the protesters, Caroline Thelma, says the accused should not be granted bail.
“We want this man not to be granted bail. In just one day, he will be going to more than five house raping and stealing properties. As the community, we do not want him back, we live in fear and this is not good for us and our children, we can’t have such a person living amongst us.”

Meanwhile, Limpopo Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego says they have launched investigations against the three security guards who were allegedly overpowered by a suspect that allegedly raped two nurses over a week ago.
Mashego says they suspect foul play against the security guards.
The guards allegedly said that they were attacked by a group of men, but police investigations have revealed that the suspect was alone.
Mashego says they will also improve security measures at the clinic before it is re-opened.
