Johannesburg Metro Police have advised motorists to use alternative routes following traffic disruptions in Orlando West and Mofolo Central in the South of Johannesburg.
It is reported that taxi operators have blocked some of the roads including Machaba Drive near Elias Motsoaledi Road, the intersection of Klipspruit Valley Road, Khumalo Road and Sofasonke Street.
This is due to route disputes between taxi associations.
Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson, Superintendent Xolani Fihla, says they are on site monitoring the traffic.
“The intersection of Klipspruit Valley Road, Khumalo Road, and Sofasonke Street is blocked off to traffic, and this is causing heavy delays in the area as motorists divert from these closures. Expect delays on Xorile Street and Martha Louw Street. Motorists are advised to be aware of these closures and to exercise extreme caution, avoid and use alternative routes such as Chris Hani Road, Soweto Highway and Moroka Nancefield Road.”
