Tshwane Executive Mayor Nasiphi Moya has expressed relief that the community of Hammanskraal north of Pretoria finally have access to water.
She visited the Magalies Klipdrift Water Treatment Plant in Hammanskraal.
This follows the completion of the first phase of the water treatment project, ending nearly two decades of water problems among residents.
Moya says the water from the taps is safe for consumption.
“Those areas are supplied by the Babelegi Reservoir, they include the Mandela Village, Steve Biko, Marokolong and the Babelegi industrial area. We are here not only to announce we are going into the community and as a leadership, we will drink the water ourselves as a demonstration that we mean what we say.”
It was a joyful moment witnessing residents open their taps today. We are committed to ensuring that all residents in Hammanskraal have access to services delivered with dignity and respect. #ReASpana @CityTshwane pic.twitter.com/09Qhs2rUjH
