The corruption trial over the VBS looting and unlawful investment of municipal funds against three accused, including two senior officials at the Giyani municipality, Limpopo has been postponed.

Two of the three accused in the case related to the VBS collapse appeared at the Polokwane Special Commercial Crimes Court.

The case against former Chief Financial Officer, Risimati Maluleke and the former acting Chief Financial Officer, Nditsheni Mashau and businessman Zwivhuya Tshishonga has been postponed to the 24th of February at the Special Commercial Crimes Court in Polokwane.

Maluleke and Mashau reportedly invested more than R148 million at the mutual bank against Treasury regulations. Tshishonga allegedly paid more than R87 000 to Maluleke as gratification.

Mashau and Tshishonga made a brief appearance. Their co-accused, former Chief Financial Officer, Risimati Maluleke was absent.

The court was informed that Maluleke was involved in a car accident while driving to court earlier today.

The court then issued a warrant of arrest but held it over until the next court appearance.

The matter was also postponed for Maluleke and Tshishonga’s lawyer to withdraw from the case on record.
